5 Tips for Successful Remote Learning/working

As we all know, the world has been challenged by COVID-19 pandemic since a couple of months up to now. This led to various changes in the daily living conditions including work and studies. Most of the schools, primary, secondary and universities/colleges brought studies on halt for an undefined period. The same happened to some types of works which were brought on halt. Despite the encumbrances, some schools and organizations have been able to shift to online studying/working. Promptly, this led to accentuated use of the online environment while learning and/or working.

However, some people encounter hurdles in the process and fail to succeed. On the grounds, I write this blog to provide you with 5 tips that will help you succeed as you would while studying/working onsite. Here we go.

 1. Know Your Working Hours: Not all of us like it when it comes to working in morning hours. Some of us would prefer spending these hours asleep other than working at such time. To some others, morning hours are their best working hours, they would prefer working in such moments other than any other hours. So, what do I say here? First of all, know, at what time are you much energetic and valorous? After identifying this time, this is when you schedule your studies/work. There is no rule of thumb here, this can be during morning, noon, evening or night time. What matters most is that you’re energetic in such periods and can work on serious matters successfully.

 2. Do Your Hobbies: I think everyone has their hobbies. Hobbies play distinguished roles in our lives including entertaining us, reviving us, and energizing us. So, when working/studying online, you’ll simply get demotivated, discouraged and feel like leaving it. However, if you know your hobby, this is the time to get it in use. Do you like listening to music? Do you like dancing? Now, take some break and do your hobby for a moment. After this, you will be re-energized and motivated to work again. Go back to your studies/work and deploy the new strength gained after the hobby and wear on.

 3. Bear Deadlines in Mind: Believe it or not, time is the driver of our lives and actions. If you do your work/studies without considering what time you’re expected to get done with the work/studies, then you will find that all you did was in vain. Check with your instructor, supervisor or learning platform if you do use one to figure out the deadlines set for each action that you have to take. After this, plan accordingly and ensure you meet the set deadlines. Otherwise, you will work after time and fail.

 4. Set Goals: There’s something I like about setting goals. When you set goals, you keep reminiscing yourself to do what you planned. When you seem to forget, your mind will truly take you back to the plan. When you end up failing, trust me, your mind will never be biased. It reprimands you for not having accomplished the planned tasks. So, to be successful as you work/study online, set goals that you have to accomplish in a certain time range. Doing this, you need to take care! Make sure you do it aligned with the deadlines set for each action. Keep in mind that the goals should be SMART. After setting your smart goals, make a plan of how you will accomplish each goal set to serve as your guide in the process.

 5. Avoid Distractions: When studying or working online, several distractions are there to grab your attention. Your friends will message, some notifications pop in, some calls, and people around you have some contributions on this. So, for your plan to be successfully followed, you will need to manage and avoid all these sorts of distractions. For messages, calls and notifications have your phone away from you and mute the notifications so your full attention will be on the work/study. When using your phone to work/study, you can still manage this. Just conclude to not speak to or message someone during the preferable moment of learning/working and be serious with your decision. Regarding distractions from people close to you, you have to set your learning/working place. Set this place so you have everything you need in the process, avoid moving all around so you don’t interact with them, and of course, let them know you want to focus on your studies or work in such moments. They will respect that and set you free.

I believe, with these tips on hand, you will find it easy to study or work remotely. You can be as successful while learning or working remotely as you could while onsite.
